We know hiring someone to work in your home is a big decision. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often — so you know exactly what to expect when you work with Dad's Handyman CoS.
We do all kinds of work that do not require licensing or permitting. We specialize in small to mid-size jobs including painting, drywall repair, grab bar and aging-in-place installations, flooring, tile, furniture assembly, and general installations. While we don't hold plumbing or electrical licenses, we can handle basic replacements like ceiling fans, faucets, drains, and garbage disposals.
We are a registered business with the Colorado Secretary of State. We do not hold a General Contractor's, plumber's, electrician's, or similar license. We only perform work that does not require licensing or permitting, so you never have to worry about unpermitted work.

Yes. Dad's Handyman CoS is proudly veteran-owned and operated by Army veteran Cameron Tinker, who founded the company upon retiring from the U.S. Army in 2024. The same discipline, reliability, and attention to detail Cameron brought to his military service drives how we operate every day.
We proudly serve Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities including Monument, Woodmoor, Palmer Lake, Tri-Lakes, Northgate, Briargate, Black Forest, Gleneagle, Jackson Creek, Flying Horse, Powers, Mark Sheffel, and Fountain. We can also work outside our regular service area — an additional fee will apply to cover the technician's travel time.
Our minimum service charge is $125. Beyond that, pricing varies by job — you can generally expect our rates to be higher than unlicensed or unregistered handymen, but lower than licensed trades (like plumbers or electricians) for the same tasks that don't require a license. We price based on the scope and complexity of the work, not by the hour, so you always know what you're paying before we start.
It depends on the scope of work. Many jobs can be estimated at no cost if the scope can be determined remotely through a conversation and photos. If the work cannot be assessed remotely, an in-person consultation will need to be scheduled. This consult carries a $100 non-refundable fee, which covers scheduling, mobilization, and the technician's time to take measurements and conduct any necessary research. The consult fee is separate from and does not apply toward our minimum service charge, and is non-refundable regardless of whether a formal estimate can be provided.
Scheduling availability varies by season — summers tend to be our busiest time. Generally speaking, smaller jobs (less than a full day) can often be scheduled within the following week, depending on your flexibility. Larger projects typically book out one to two weeks. The best way to get on the schedule quickly is to reach out early and have a few date options in mind.
We warrant our labor to be free of defects for one (1) year from the date of completion. This warranty covers labor only and excludes materials, customer-supplied materials, and any damage resulting from misuse, neglect, or modification after completion.
Estimates generally have a 30-day expiration. After that, we can re-create the estimate, but the pricing is not guaranteed to be the same.
We ask that cancellations and reschedules be made as far in advance as possible — we understand life happens and will work with you when we can. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your appointment won't incur any charges, and deposits may be refunded if materials haven't been purchased. Changes within 48 hours or no-shows may incur a fee of up to 50% of the service cost and will forfeit any deposit. This helps us protect the time we've reserved for you.
